That would be the sound of me ticking off tasks as I get them complete. I got a few things done on the Balfrith story this past week, all of them small but still needing to be done. Alas, none are really worth sharing, since they really were quite little. I've said it before, but I'll say it again: any progress is good progress. And I did make some good progress this week. I won't claim that the new Mac helped me be more productive, but since I was geeking around on it anyway, my attention eventually turned to the story. I also had to re-learn the Scrivener user interface, since there are quite a few small differences between the Mac and Windows versions. So again, my attention naturally focused on Balfrith.
I also spent some time working on a different story idea, the kind of thing I occasionally do when I need a break from the novel. Hard to say if I'll ever actually write the story that comes from this idea, but I like to write them down anyway, just on the off-chance that I might come back to it later.
On a personal note, I'm taking a week off from work this week. Not going anywhere, just staying home to relax, and maybe do some work around the house. I've had a few projects gathering dust here for quite a while, so I thought I might pick one or two of them up and try to make a little progress on them over the next few days. I will probably also try and get some momentum going on Balfrith's story, since my progress over the last few months has been in small fits and starts.
One last comment. If you haven't played The Last of Us, go out and get it. Right now - don't wait. I picked it up on a whim in January, and spent the next week playing through it. I then bumped the difficulty level up a notch, and played it again. Yes, the game is that good. It's won a bunch of awards, and I can see why - excellent story, excellent acting, excellent production values, excellent game-play. I'm not a hard-core gamer, and there may be better games out there than The Last of Us, but for my money, this was the best video game I have played in years. Just thinking about it now, makes me want to go play it again this week. Oh dear, this may put a dent in my other plans for the week....
